MARIAN WELCOMES NEW PRESIDENT, DR. STEVEN DiSALVO

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University of Wisconsin welcomes Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D., formerly of Connecticut, as the 14th president of the university.  DiSalvo succeeds Sr. Mary Mollison, CSA, who served as the interim president from March 2009—June 2010.

Dr. DiSalvo brings to Marian University extensive experience in Catholic higher education and national philanthropic fundraising leadership.  DiSalvo has a Ph.D. in educational leadership, a M.B.A. in marketing and a B.S. in psychology, all from Fordham University in New York.  He serves as the Board Chair for Fordham’s Center for American Catholic Studies.

While serving as Executive Assistant to the President at Loyola University in Chicago, Ill. and as the Director of Major Gifts for the Capital Campaign at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., DiSalvo developed critical skills for university leadership.  Also, he held the title of Executive Director of the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation as well as that of President and Founder of The Hopewell Group, Inc. where his key clients included Jorge Posada, Michael Bolton and Maria Cuomo Cole.

As Marian moves into its 75th year in 2011, DiSalvo plans to build upon the university’s strong academic and values based programming to enhance institutional brand equity, philanthropic outreach and student dedicated opportunities and experiences.  “Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Future” is the inaugural year theme. An inauguration ceremony for Dr. DiSalvo will occur on Saturday, October 23.
